2019 Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Class

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction: Cultivating lifelong tools to reduce stress, pain and anxiety

Friday, May 8, 2020, 10am-5pm at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, Woodacre, California (Spirit Rock is located in Marin county and is approximately 45 minutes from San Francisco)

Sliding scale: $75-$200 (6 CE credits available for $60 for psychologists and California licensed MFTs, LCSWs, LEPs, LPCCs, nurses, and chiropractors.)

This day of practice and inquiry can be an introduction to those new to mindfulness and an opportunity to deepen awareness for practitioners and students who have taken the 8 week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program (MBSR). 

Mindfulness is the practice of cultivating non-judgmental awareness of day-to-day life. It helps people develop the ability to experience each moment, no matter how difficult or intense, with more serenity and clarity.

Over the course of this day at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, you will learn how stress affects your body and will have the opportunity to practice awareness techniques to improve your ability to cope with stressful situations, increase your immune function, and reduce pain and anxiety.

 

The day will include:

- guided instruction in MBSR practices, such as the body scan, sitting meditation, walking meditation, breathing meditation, and eating meditation

- gentle stretching and mindful yoga 

- small and large group inquiry and discussion

- an exploration of one’s ability to work mindfully with the experience of stress, pain, grief, and anxiety (within ourselves and when working with others).

- a fresh look at triggers of difficult emotions

 

Over the course of the day, we will cultivate intentional and skillful ways to be present with thoughts, feelings and body sensations as they arise.
